Rosacea
Rosacea can show up in many forms: little red bumps or pustules, diffuse redness, broken capillaries or enlargement of the nose or chin. Sometimes you will see flushing or skin sensitivity. Rosacea can also affect the eyes and present with symptoms of red dry eyes that have a prickly sensation.
Rosacea can flare up as a result of caffeine intake, alcohol consumption, spicy foods or sun exposure. The exact cause is unknown and there is no cure for rosacea. However, medical therapy is available to control or reverse its signs and symptoms. Depending on the type of rosacea you have, certain creams, pills or laser treatments can safely and effectively treat your rosacea.
Blood Vessels (estasia)
These are those pesky red little dots or lines that usually show up on the face especially around the nose. They can also be on the neck and chest and give an “aged look” in both areas. Ectasia can also be part of Rosacea and cause diffuse redness over the area. The only effective treatments for these lesions are lasers or electrodessication. Creams or pills cannot destroy these little blood vessels. Laser treatment with the Vbeam Laser is effective, safe and with very little downtime, and makes a huge difference in the overall texture, coloration and appearance of the skin.
