Treatments for Melasma
According to the National Institutes of Health, about 6 million women in the United States are estimated to cope with melasma. If you have melasma, you are not alone! Melasma CAN be treated.
What is Melasma? Melasma (chloasma) appears as an uneven dark spots of the face, especially over the cheeks, forehead and upper lip. Melasma can mimic sun spots (solar lentigenes and lentigo senalis) because it is also a series of brown spots on the face.
It can be associated with pregnancy, birth control pills or sun exposure. Melasma presents a cosmetic condition and is not associated with internal disease. At the same time, many patients would prefer to address the change.
Melasma during pregnancy (AKA the mask of pregnancy) can be especially tough since there are so many restrictions in treating a pregnant woman. There are various treatments that can be utilized to help with melasma during pregnancy and Dr. Tanya Kormeili specializes in compounding and prescribing safe products to address this, and other concerns as part of our mommy make-over treatments.
Melasma in men in contrast to melasma during pregnancy, is often not talked about. Melamsa in men can be every bit as hard as any type of melasma, and it is proof that sun, and our genetic make-up, not just hormones, play a huge role in the development of melasma. Melasma in men must include a good sun screen and sun protection behavior that can be acceptable to their lifestyle. Dr. Tanya Kormeili specializes in creating unique and personal solutions for men skincare. We understand that the modern successful man wants to remove brown spots, and fade age spots to look as young as he feels inside!

What our patients are saying:
I had rosacea that caused redness and broken vessels on my face. Dr. Kormeili addressed all of my concerns and set about fixing the redness. I was super excited after my first laser treatment as the improvement was immediately noticeable. The second laser treatment made me look and feel amazing…
I had really bad psoriasis on my scalp that flaked all over my clothes, and it was so embarrassing to sit on board meetings in a black suite with white flakes. My entire attention was on my flakes, and worried what people were thinking when they looked at me, or got close to me at work…
Dr. Kormeili is the BEST!! I have a horrible phobia of needles and she calmed my nerves and had an extremely gentle touch. Painless office visit!
