Sebaceous Gland Hyperplasia

Moles, Spots, and Growths

Sebaceous gland hyperplasia presents as small cream-to-yellow colored papules located, most notably, on the face. They represent the overgrowth of oil glands in the skin but are not precursors to any skin malignancy. They can however clinically mimic skin cancer and need to be properly diagnosed!

Even if not a danger, sebaceous hyperplasia can be of understandable cosmetic concern to certain patients. It can effectively be treated with a number of cosmetic procedures including minor surgery, liquid nitrogen freezing, and, most effectively, with laser therapy.

For more information on the cosmetic treatment of these lesions, we would be happy to see you in consultation. Please contact us for a prompt appointment with Dr. Kormeili.
