PRP for Skin Rejuvenation

Platelet-Rich-Plasma is a non-surgical treatment involving using the blood of a patient to make PRP to improve skin. It is done by taking drawing blood, using a centrifuge technique to separate the blood, then taking the platelet-rich-plasma and injecting it into different treatment areas to help with skin texture and tone. This is an advanced anti-aging treatment that repairs damaged tissues.

This treatment is beneficial because it uses your own blood to repair the damaged cells. This gives your skin healing properties and helps in the production of your body’s natural collagen.

PRP Skin Rejuvenation Benefits:

  • Skin Tightening
  • Toning
  • Reduction of Wrinkles and Fine Lines
  • Dark Circles
  • Crow’s Feet
  • Sun Damaged Skin

The PRP contains proteins that are essential to stimulate collagen and elastin to help your skin look youthful. This procedure is safe and has little side effects since it uses your own blood and tissue.

PRP has been studied with great promise in the treatment of scars, wrinkles, sun damage, and overall rejuvenation. As with any other procedure that promotes your own natural healing, the results are not immediate. It takes weeks to months to see the results. PRP is often added to Fraxel Laser treatments for enhanced results.

As with any other procedure that promotes your own natural healing, the results are not immediate. It takes weeks to months to see the full results of rejuvenation.

Because PRP harnesses your own natural plasma, growth factors and chemicals for healing, it is hard to compare any two patient’s quality or strength of PRP! Therefore, part of the PRP hair treatment success is the quality of the plasma of the patient.

Patients are usually in the office for about an hour and a half. It takes about 20 minutes to process the PRP and at least another 10-20 minutes for Dr. Kormeili to administer the PRP. We use an anesthetic to make the procedure as comfortable as possible!

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is produced when a small amount of your blood is drawn into a tube and centrifuged properly. During the centrifugation process we isolate the PRP rich in your own growth factors and healing chemicals naturally found in your body. PRP is often injected into lines and wrinkles of the face, neck or chest where rejuvenation is desired.

PRP harnesses your own natural plasma, growth factors and chemicals for healing the new collagen made in an effort to rejuvenate or treat scars, so the results are yours to keep. Of course, as with all of our other collagen, there is gradual loss and destruction with aging.

PRP can be done alone or in combination with microneedling or Fraxel laser treatments. It can be purchased alone or as a package. Depending on the extent of the condition therefore prices vary. It can range from $650-$1000 on average.

We use both topically cream numbing as well as lidocaine in our PRP mixture to create further comfort. Using ice also helps fight any discomfort from PRP injections. After the PRP is injected you may experience some mild soreness at the injection sites (similar to fillers).

Platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, is a substance that's thought to promote healing when injected. Plasma is a component of your blood that contains special “factors,” or proteins, that help your blood to clot. It also contains proteins that support cell growth.

Once injected into the treatment area it helps promote the healing mechanisms in the body to build your own new collagen resulting in rejuvenation.

It is injected similarly to a filler but unlike fillers that add volume, PRP helps build your own collagen to fill the area.

PRP therapy typically consists of 1-3 treatments every 30 or so days. When combined with Fraxel laser or microneedling, most patients experience the most favorable outcomes.

Most patients do repeat annual or semi-annual treatments to promote longer lasting results.

You can apply cold gel packs or ice to reduce swelling. Avoid vigorous exercise to minimize swelling.  If you have done PRP in combination with Fraxel or microneedling then you will have special instructions provided to you after your treatment to follow. We will help you every step of the way!

A word of caution: please do your research to ensure you are in proper hands. You do not want to have some other person’s PRP injected into you by error because of poorly supervised medical centers. PRP is a medical procedure and needs outmost care and caution to ensure safety.
