Photofacial Benefits: 5 Facts You Need To Know

Who doesn’t want glowing and beautiful skin? In fact, most women want to wear make up because they want to, not because they have to! Men don’t want the sunspots to give them an old and tired appearance either. Dr. Kormeili discusses photofacial benefits and how this procedures helps you create beautiful glowing skin.

Photofacial Benefits: 5 Facts You Need To Know

Photofacials refers to using a special type of light (IPL) that targets mostly pigment in the skin.  The benefits are many, but here are 5 facts regarding photofacial benefits.

The most important of photofacial benefits is safety. If you choose the right settings, photofacials can be safe on most skin types. In our office, every single patient will meet with a board certified dermatologist before determining if photofacials are safe for their skin types. If not, Dr. Kormeili will come up with a personalizes treatment plan to address the goals in another safe way!

Another of the photofacial benefits is that it’s non-invasive. This means that there is no cutting, surgery or anesthesia required to do this treatment. We usually use numbing cream however to make things even more comfortable for our patients.

Additionally, photofacials create a gradual change. Most people do not want drastic procedures with radical risk to the skin. If done gradually, the chance of burning and discoloration are minimal, with an upside of gradual brightening and loss of dark liver spots!

Patients love the benefits of photofacials, including it’s comfort. We use a combination of specially formulated numbing cream and ice to make the procedure painless and comfortable. We can always adjust the settings on the device to make it even more tolerable for those who are more sensitive!

Finally, the biggest of photofacial benefits for you: it’s effective. Over the years this device has become the gold standard in removing sun spots in an effective manner. Having said that, it is important to know that moles or skin cancers, even if brown in color, will not be removed using this laser.

Photofacial Treatments

These photo rejuvenation treatments take less than thirty minutes and are performed in a series of 2 to 4 sessions every 3 weeks. Noticeable improvements are seen naturally over time and include a decrease in skin redness, flushing and dilated capillaries by just a few IPL treatments.

Skin also feels smoother and softer with more even tone, texture and coloration after photo rejuvenation. Photo facial aftercare does include wearing good quality SPF and sun protection. Another important note to remember as part of photo facial aftercare is to not to pick at the skin and use gentle cleaning practices.

Our post-photo facial instructions include details for skin care and specific photo facial aftercare suggestions for a successful recovery (the brown spots get a little darker and all off gently). Our staff has a bag of skincare products along with photo facial aftercare and post photo facial instructions for you after finishing your Intense Pulsed Light treatment.

We look forward to meeting with you and discussing your skin needs and if photofacials are right for you. Please contact us to schedule a consultation.
