Body Services For Men

Body services for men are a collection of non-surgical procedures and treatments to help a man relish his masculinity and get the most out of life. Age brings unique changes and challenges for men. Different facets of our appearance are altered, mood and energy oscillate, and the ability to look and feel young slowly wanes. While many treatments are marketed exclusively to accentuate a woman’s feminine curves and contours, Dr. Tanya Kormeili is proud to offer men a suite of body services focused on helping men achieve their desired physique through different advanced approaches. For those interested, the first step is to schedule a personal consultation at our Santa Monica offices. Here, Dr. Kormeili will learn about your cosmetic concerns and formulate a personalized treatment plan to tackle each one. To reach our front desk, please call (310) 526-8301.

With Age Comes Wisdom

Men should be allowed to age gracefully too. However, a strong, fit, blemish-free physique is always desirable. While it might have been obtainable in our youth, this archetype for a prime physique is difficult to maintain and even harder to achieve in our later years. Different processes in our bodies cause various intrinsic changes in our physiology, making obtaining that dream physique more difficult than it was earlier in life. For example, in his later years, a man experiences a less active lifestyle, leaner muscle mass, and slower metabolic health, while fat storage progressively increases.[1] So, unfortunately, fat becomes harder to lose, and muscle gradually becomes harder to keep. All of these factors affect our bodies’ ability to sustain equilibrium in our physiological systems, causing the process of aging to intensify as the necessary properties are no longer produced at sufficient rates. Weight increases, hormone imbalances occur, and overall confidence in our self-image falls by the wayside.

While a healthy, active lifestyle can help some lead a happier life, many of our patients report dissatisfactory results with this formula alone. That is why Dr. Kormeili offers body services for men: to give you real results that fit in with your schedule and with your lifestyle. After all, men should be able to look and feel how they want at any age!

Unwanted, Stubborn Fat

As we age, even if we reach our goal weight, we might still have stubborn, lingering fat that rests on different parts of our body. This fat can exist around our abdomen, love handles, chest, arms, and legs. Though diet and exercise help us burn the initial pounds, our results start to plateau, and the unwanted fatty tissue mockingly sticks to our physique. This type of fat is different from the type burned at the beginning of a weight loss journey. This pesky fat is subcutaneous, as it rests between the muscle and skin. Because it acts as an insulator and shield to regulate heat loss and protect our bodies’ internal structures, it can be stubborn.[2] Diet and exercise can only affect these fat cells if taken to extreme measures. But, for “the everyman,” these cells persist and intensify with age.

How To Treat Subcutaneous Fat

To target subcutaneous fat, Dr. Kormeili uses the popular and effective CoolSculpting technology to drop fat cell temperature to freezing levels. The CoolSculpting applicator is a non-invasive device targets fatty tissue. Once attached, the CoolSculpting device uses cryo-energy to freeze fat cells, leaving the surrounding tissue and structures unaffected.[3] Patients only feel mild discomfort that leads to a numbing sensation in the target areas. For the next thirty minutes, the cryo-energy disrupts the fat cells and causes them to lose their cellular integrity. The fat cells dislodge from their connective tissue and remain there until the lymphatic system processes them out of the body. In a couple of days to weeks, men can expect to see more sculpted definitions in the treated area(s).

Loose Skin

Collagen, a basic building block of our skin’s structural support, is necessary to keep skin tight and wrinkle-free. However, like other biological systems, our skin’s ability to replenish collagen fibers decreases with age. As no new fibers replace the existing collagen, our skin loses its elasticity and starts to sag, wrinkle, and fold. While this process is common in the skin on our face, many men experience loose skin around their midsection, arms, chest, and thighs. To tighten this skin, men commonly turn to lotions, creams, serums, and other topical products to find only underwhelming results. For the most effective treatment, we must attack the atrophied cells from the inside out.

How To Treat Loose Skin

Ultherapy is an FDA-approved device that uses sound waves to trigger collagen receptors into rampant production. With a new influx of fresh collagen fibers, the existing strands are either replaced or repaired, causing the skin’s surface to tighten. Over the following days and weeks, wrinkles and loose folds disappear and skin regains youthful elasticity.

Under-Defined Muscles

To sculpt your ideal physique, it is just as important to focus on muscle building as on fat loss. After all, muscle tissue comprises 42% of a man’s body composition, while fat only makes up 25%.[4] With age, muscles are harder to obtain and maintain. Consequently, to keep our muscles in tip-top shape, we need to spend more time at the gym. However, there is a state-of-the-art muscle-building technology that goes where no HIIIT class or CrossFit regimen can.

Treating Under-Defined Muscles

Emsculpt is a wearable device that produces high-intensity focused electromagnetic (HIFEM) power to contract muscles 20,000 times during a 30-minute session. Because one contraction equals one repetition, Emsculpt can take muscles well past the point of fatigue; further than even the most advanced workout. The constant contractions cause the muscle fibers to tear, triggering a wound healing response in the brain. Restorative properties travel to the fatigued fibers, repairing them, and readying them for a future run-in with a workload of the same intensity. This process causes the muscles to gain strength, tone, and definition.

Erectile Dysfunction

Alright, guys – the elephant in the room would like to be addressed. Before you crawl into your shell or gloss over the text, it might be beneficial to note that erectile dysfunction is one of (if not the) most common conditions plaguing the modern man. Studies project 322 million men around the world will be diagnosed with erectile dysfunction by the year 2025.[5] In recent studies, researchers found a peculiar relationship between age and percentage of men with erectile dysfunction: 50% of 50-year-olds, 60% of 60-year-olds, and 70% of 70-year-olds, and so on had all experienced chronic or irregular bouts with erectile dysfunction.[6] So, for those with erectile dysfunction, you are far from being alone. But with the subject being too taboo to discuss in a public forum, effective treatment largely does not go past generic and brand name medications. But now, Dr. Kormeili has the tools and resources necessary to not only demystify this condition but also eradicate it from the conversation.

Emsella is a throne-like apparatus where the patient is seated to receive treatment. From inside the seat of the Emsella device, ultrasound waves permeate through the patient’s lower body to reach his pelvic floor muscles. To achieve and maintain an erection, the complex network of systems needs to be in harmony. One of these systems is weak pelvic floor muscles. When these muscles are weak, blood flow can be curtailed, and prolonging ejaculation can be difficult. But after a couple of sessions in the Emsella chair, men can see stronger, more robust pelvic floor muscles that are more adept to promote healthy erections and overall sexual health.

Unsightly Hair

From our back to our neck to our chest and stomach, unsightly hair can persist on just about any part of our bodies. While shaving and waxing may solve this hairy dilemma, it does so only temporarily. Many men have more coarse body hair, so more extreme measures may be better suited. Dr. Kormeili has just the solution.

How To Treat Unsightly Hair

With laser hair removal, patients can see real, long-lasting smoothness in all the common trouble spots around the body. The laser uses skin-safe energy to destroy hair follicles at their roots. With multiple sessions, patients see the hair lose fullness and color. After the last session, the area is smooth and hairless. Now, he doesn’t have to worry about routinely shaving or waxing the area but can simply cross unsightly hair off on his list of worries.
