Rosacea: how can laser treatments help?

Dr. Kormeili discusses treatment for rosacea and demonstrates the use of the Vbeam laser to treat rosacea on the face.

If you have rosacea, like Dr. Kormeili, then you can really appreciate how quickly and painlessly the tiny ugly vessels can be removed from the skin. Removing the tiny blood vessels can make the flushing of rosacea so much better. When the little vessels are treated, the skin is less red and inflamed, restoring the natural color of the skin.

The redness can become permanent if you do not get treatment for rosacea.

Prevention Of Rosacea Flare Ups

Sometimes the best treatment for rosacea is to take a preventative step. Dr. Kormeili recommends:

Laser Treatment For Rosacea

Dilated blood vessels in the nose, chin, and cheeks may create too much redness. When this occurs, you may benefit from the VBeam laser.

The VBeam laser is one of the safest lasers with minimal side effects when used by an expert. The most common side effect is bruising which can be predicted and Dr. Kormeili may recommend Arnica to help with the bruising.

After treatment, the area will look more red and swollen. This will last for a few hours and then clear up.

Topical Medications For Treating Rosacea

Rosacea may also be treated with medicated creams. Common antibiotic medications used to treat rosacea are Metrogel (metronidazole) and Finacea (azelaic acid).

It’s important to discuss your medication history and lifestyle with your dermatologist in order to determine the best treatment for your rosacea. Please contact Dr. Kormeili to schedule a consultation.
