Psoriasis is a common skin condition. It presents itself as thick, silvery, scaly plaques over inflamed, red, and often itchy patches of skin. Psoriasis often appears on skin of the knees, elbows, behind the ears and on the scalp. Skin in psoriasis undergoes rapid proliferation as a result of increased inflammatory signals to the skin cells. Psoriasis can also affect the nails with very characteristic nail pits. Nail psoriasis may mimic nail fungus.
Psoriasis can affect also the joints, causing joint destruction and pain.
