Botox Scar Treatment
According to a new article published in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Botox can be used at the time of the surgery to improve the appearance of facial surgical scars. Doctors have been successful with Botox scar treatment.
This study showed that an injection of Botox “immediately following wound closure improved the appearance of facial surgical scars”. Therefore, early intervention with Botox injections might improve the quality of surgical scars.
Additional studies have also shown that such as Botox, Dysport or Xeomin have been shown to improve surgical scars in the past decade. This study demonstrates that early post-surgical botulinum toxin injections can produce better, narrower, and flatter facial surgical scars.

- First remove the cancer. Whether it is excisional surgery or Mohs surgery, we remove the cancer evaluate it under the microscope.
- Next provide closure of the wound. Once we remove the cancer there is a “hole” from where the cancer used to be. Placing the scar within skin lines and moving tissue around to close the defect is an art! We use a combination of dermatology and plastic surgery to ensure the best results.
- Finally, provide scar care. We offer a comprehensive and personalized approach to each patient for their unique surgical scar, including Botox scar injections.
